When Mobile Windshield Service Is the Right Choice
Our mobile service is ideal for several common situations that Jackson Hole residents and visitors encounter:
Unsafe to Drive
If your windshield has severe damage — a large crack across the driver's line of sight, a shattered section, or extensive spider-webbing — it may not be safe to drive your vehicle to our shop. Wyoming law requires that windshields provide clear, unobstructed vision for the driver. Driving with a severely compromised windshield can result in a citation and, more importantly, puts you and other drivers at risk. In these cases, our mobile service comes to you.
Vehicle Cannot Be Moved
Sometimes windshield damage occurs in conjunction with other issues that prevent the vehicle from being driven — a dead battery, flat tire, or mechanical breakdown. If your vehicle is stuck at a trailhead, hotel parking lot, or roadside location, we can come to you and handle the glass repair while you arrange for other repairs through our sister brand, The Garage Jackson Hole.
Busy Schedule
Many of our Jackson Hole customers are busy professionals who cannot take hours out of their workday to drive to our shop and wait. With mobile service, we come to your office parking lot, job site, or home driveway and complete the work while you continue your day. You don't even need to be present — just leave the vehicle accessible and we will handle everything.
Fleet Vehicles
For businesses with multiple vehicles that need glass work, our mobile service eliminates the need to send vehicles to our shop one at a time. We can service fleet vehicles at your business location, minimizing downtime and keeping your operations running smoothly.
Resort and Hotel Guests
Visitors to Jackson Hole who pick up a rock chip on the way to the ski resort or a cracked windshield from a parking lot incident don't want to spend their vacation at an auto glass shop. We come to your hotel, resort, or rental property and handle the repair so you can get back to your vacation.
How Our Mobile Service Works
Scheduling mobile windshield service with Windshield Doctor is straightforward:
Step 1: Contact Us
Call (307) 733-7056 or request a quote online. Describe the damage and provide your vehicle's year, make, model, and VIN number (found on the dashboard near the windshield or on your registration). Tell us your preferred location and time.
Step 2: Quote and Scheduling
We will provide a quote and check glass availability. For common vehicles (Toyota Tacomas, Subaru Outbacks, Ford F-150s, Jeep Wranglers), we typically have glass in stock and can often schedule same-day or next-day service. For less common vehicles, we will order the glass and schedule installation upon arrival — usually within 1–3 business days.
Step 3: On-Site Service
Our mobile technician arrives at your location with all necessary materials. We need:
- A flat, level parking area large enough to work around the vehicle
- Shelter from rain or snow is preferred but not always required (we can work in a garage, carport, or covered parking area)
- Temperature above 40°F for optimal adhesive performance (in cold weather, we use winter-formula adhesives that cure at lower temperatures)
- Approximately 3–6 feet of clearance on the side of the vehicle where the glass is being replaced
Step 4: Completion and Inspection
After installation, we inspect the work, clean up all debris and packaging, and verify all seals and connections. For windshield replacements, we will inform you of the safe drive-away time — the adhesive requires a minimum cure period before the vehicle can be driven. For chip repairs, you can drive immediately.
If your vehicle requires ADAS calibration after windshield replacement, we may need to bring the vehicle to our shop for the calibration procedure, as it requires a controlled indoor environment. We will coordinate this with you during scheduling.
Mobile Service Pricing and Coverage
Our mobile service pricing is transparent and competitive. The cost of the glass and installation is the same whether performed at our shop or at your location. A mobile service fee may apply depending on distance and complexity:
Mobile Service Fees
- Jackson town limits: No additional mobile fee for most services
- Wilson, Teton Village, Moose: Minimal travel fee
- Hoback Junction, Kelly, Gros Ventre: Standard travel fee applies
- Alpine, Star Valley, Teton Valley ID: Extended travel fee — call for details
Insurance Coverage
Insurance coverage works the same for mobile service as for in-shop service. If your policy covers windshield replacement or chip repair, it covers mobile service as well. The mobile fee, if any, is typically included in the insurance claim. We handle all insurance paperwork on-site, just as we would at our shop.
Many insurance companies actually prefer mobile service for windshield replacement because it reduces the risk of the customer driving an unsafe vehicle to a shop. Your carrier may waive your deductible entirely for mobile windshield replacement — we will check for you.
For fleet customers and property management companies, we offer volume pricing and scheduled service days to handle multiple vehicles efficiently. See our fleet services page for details.
